The So-Called Objectums
A great wave of people have come out of their nests and claiming to be 'objectums'. An article in Nature describes them as 'Individuals who identify as OS experience emotional, romantic and/or sexual feelings towards inanimate objects' (OS meaning objectum-sexuality). This is yet another tragedy of the new social media, as the traditional sanctitudes of marriage are being ripped to shreds right beneath our eyes.
There are people that do condemn these people as I believe; yet, they are incorrect in why they condemn them. If you ask these men why they condemn these acts, the most they can say is 'it's weird'. This is a reason, but there are lots of great and wonderful things that seem weird. Cotton candy is a weird thing, yet it's really nice.
Their main issue is that they have a major double standard. While they do have these condemnations of objectums, they would not dare speak of the same thing about someone of the transgender variety. I would argue those of trans type and the objectum's are just two of the same types. They could only exist in this modern paradigm of ours. Where the words of Paul in Romans 1 are coming to pass. There is only one thing that can truly give us clear guidance, the holy infallible Scriptures.
The Bible records in the second chapter of the Book of Genesis "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh". This is the only kind of marriage/relationship that is explicitly allowed in the Bible. Homosexuality is condemned explicitly (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10) pedophilia the same (Matthew 18:6) and bestiality (Exodus 22:19). This is the plain truth of the Word of God, only one kind of relationship is allowed.
I understand that many of the people with these objectum leanings are generally autistic. This changes very little about the situation. The churches of the world teach universally even the ones that condemn homosexual attraction like the Word explicitly says, that people with that attraction should be treated with care and respect. This same principle ought to be followed to people with objectum attractions, especially so considering their needs are more special than the common man.
Care and respect for all men is the explicit teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ. "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another." This commandment certainly applies to the people of condemnable attractions (homosexuality, pedophilia, objectum). Pure respect is required for the people, especially for those who are in a condition where their way of communication and way of thinking is inhibited.
My way of dealing with objectum is the same as all things, the Scriptures. They do not explicitly condemn objectums, yet the clear Biblical example is a condemnation of all things of marriage not of one man, one woman, for a lifetime of care and holiness.
